**IMPORTANT update regarding USPS postmarks** From the USPS website as of 1/02/2026: “…the date on the postmarks applied at our processing facilities will not necessarily match the date on which the customer’s mailpiece was collected by a letter carrier or dropped off at a retail location." Since Iowa code dictates that we refer to the postmark for property tax and motor vehicle payments to determine penalties and interest, we are urging Cerro Gordo County residents and taxpayers to not wait until the last day to send their payment.
