Prairie Pothole Wildlife Area

This 145-acre permanent "Wetland Reserve Program" tract was purchased partially in 2001 through a cooperative effort of Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Iowa Wild Turkey Federation, and Cerro Gordo County Conservation "REAP" account funding. The remaining acres were purchased in 2021 with funding assistance from a Wildlife Habitat Stamp grant. The area includes restored wetlands, native prairie restoration and oak/hardwood timber. It is located just north of the intersection of blacktop B-14 and Apple Avenue.
