Cerro Gordo County participates in the National Flood Insurance Program. In order to ensure benefits of the program for county residents, we must make sure any work in a floodplain is up to DNR and local requirements. Local rules are established in Chapter 21 of the County Zoning Ordinance.
Review by the state for all work occurring in the FEMA-designated 100-year floodplain is required before review by the County. The state will make a determination of the requirements for such projects.
- A Joint Application must be submitted for all new or expanded structures or any dirt work.
- Quick Check Tool: This tool is designed to quicken review of the Joint Application. Submit the results with the Joint Application, and review time can be as quick as 2-3 weeks.
