Dogs Prohibited on Wildlife Areas

The Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board (CGCCB) would like to remind dog owners that per Iowa Code and CGCCB regulations, dogs are prohibited on CGCCB Wildlife Areas between the dates of March 15 and July 15 of each year. This restriction has been put in place to protect ground nesting wildlife such as pheasants, waterfowl, and songbirds during the nesting season.
Dogs are permitted on designated training areas located at the Mike Zack Wildlife Area, the South Shellrock River Greenbelt, and the Quarry Lake at Lime Creek Conservation Area.
In addition, the Lime Creek Conservation Area, Wilkinson Park, Linn Grove Park, and Strand Park require all dogs to be on a 6-foot leash.
Dogs can still be walked on a leash on the Lime Creek trails during the nesting season, but dog owners are reminded to stick to the trails to avoid disturbing wildlife.
